Viticulturist

Westend Estate is a progressive family owned premium winemaker and is seeking to appoint a Viticulturist to manage its grape resource in Southern NSW; the position will be located at the Westend Estate winery in Griffith, NSW.

The Viticulturist will provide grower liaison services to contracted and uncontracted growers and coordinate intake with the winemakers of approximately 15000 tonnes at vintage. The successful applicant will be expected to develop educational programmes to assist growers in the production of grapes of the required quality and manage quality assurance programs for the growers.  Specific responsibilities include providing guidance on disease, pest and irrigation management, and carrying out crop estimation, vineyard assessment and crop maturity.  The position also provides technical support to the winemaking staff.

A relevant tertiary qualification such as a Degree in Viticulture (or similar) along with practical viticultural experience would be an advantage. A student nearing the end of their studies with practical experience or an applicant with significant practical viticultural experience will also be considered. The successful applicant will be highly motivated and have excellent communication skills.  A salary package commensurate with qualifications and experience, including a fully maintained vehicle, will be offered.
